Day 17 of Finding Your Flow meditation is all about expressing strength. Deepak reminds us that when we are tapped into the universal flow of life energy, we radiate the strength and the power of the Divine.
When we turn up the energy of the third chakra, we are able to express that spiritual power as courage, confidence, self reliance, and resilience. And when one of us steps into our authentic power, it gives others permission to do the same.
Our workplaces are often built on positional power—the hierarchy of who has authority over others. And sadly, some people misuse position power. This can take all kinds of forms from using blame and shame to make others feel small to being verbally and physically abusive, bullying, and harassing others.
In my years of consulting and coaching, I have found that the people who do this are actually lacking in authentic, personal power. Because they are not connected to something bigger than themselves, they fill that void by misusing position power.
This is why introducing mindfulness practices to work environments can shift the culture. As people become more grounded and tapped into the flow of energy, they don’t need to engage in power-mongering behaviors that are so harmful to the health of any organization.
You can make a difference by role modeling authentic power. As you do so, you will not only feel stronger and more resilient, you will help others see the difference. You can also recommend that your organization offer mindfulness practices, like yoga and meditation classes, to employees.
Namaste.
