On Day 20 of Finding Your Flow meditation, we turn our attention to expressing our wisdom. Deepak Chopra says this is the same as expressing the Divine truth that is within us.
I believe it is the universal truth that resonates across time and borders and other man-made forms of division. We know it when we see it—spirit recognizes spirit and when we see someone resonating the Truth, our soul beams with solidarity.
In fact, the word namaste means “The Spirit within me see and honors the Spirit within you.”
Sometimes it’s easy to forget that this can happen in the workplace too. As a society, we have spent a great deal of time removing emotions and other aspects of humanity from business. We have tried to make our businesses, schools and government agencies thrive on logic and economics.
But guess what? That hasn’t exactly worked. While we have tried to strip humanity from workplaces, we haven’t removed the humans. And while there are humans in the mix, there are souls at work.
In fact, the organizations that are thriving are the ones that honor all the richness of humanity. The research detailed in the book Firms of Endearment showcases how organizations that prioritize passion and people inevitably earn the most profit.
Simon Mainwaring, author of We First, shares compelling data about how consumers are choosing the businesses that strive to make a difference in the world.
All the impressive ROI on employee engagement is all about passion and purpose. And conferences like Wisdom 2.0 and the Social Innovation Summit prove that we can use technology and workplaces to bring out the best in humanity.
The question for you is this—are you living in your truth? If not, what is this costing you? How does this impact your emotionally and physically on a daily basis? And how do those costs trickle down to your family, friends and community?
Gandhi was right—we need to be the change we wish to see in the world. If we want to see our workplaces transform, we must start with ourselves.
Today, take a risk and speak authentically from your heart at least once during the workday. See what happens.
Namaste.
