I’m soooooo excited for this Saturday’s workshop, Calling in Your Soul Mate. While I envisioned it for singles, I realize that any of us who are in a relationship could always benefit from a love tune up. Consider this… what if all the things you are hoping and waiting for in your partner are actually a call to yourself? That YOU have a role in being your better half?
This is something I realized a few years ago when I was trying to call in my soul mate. I had a whole list of things I wanted to be doing with my dream partner, like staying at romantic bed and breakfasts or receiving tokens of affection like flowers and jewelry. I was waiting for a romance to bring these things into my life. But then it struck me that the Law of Attraction works because like is magnetized to like. If that was the case, what I was going to magnetize was another lonely and boring single person who was waiting for someone else to make them happy. So I started living my half of the ideal relationship I was trying to attract. I stayed at some wonderful bed and breakfasts, and I cherished myself with lovely flowers and jewelry. I took myself on nice dates and I treated myself like I wanted my partner to treat me — with respect and tenderness. It also meant that I had to stop belittling myself, criticizing my body, and being stingy with money.
And it worked! I called in my soul mate and we continue to have a wonderful relationship (10 years now!). But the Law of Attraction does not stop when you move in together. Relationships take the same constant tending that a garden does. And you attract that which you put out. If I want my partner to be open emotionally, then I have to be willing to be vulnerable. If I want to receive more nurturing, I have to be willing to first nurture myself — like attracts like. I am always amazed that when I am feeling most grumpy with my partner, it’s usually over something that I have not been doing for myself. Can you say projection? Obviously, communication is a big component as well but I think the key to really fantastic relationships is to live your half of your ideal relationship — be your better half.
