Day 12 of Finding Your Flow meditation moves to the fifth chakra, which sits at our throat. Turning on the flow of this energy center in the body is all about finding your voice and expressing your truth.
Some of us are comfortable speaking our truth, even in the face of power. And others of us may be uncertain about what we want to say or even shut down or fearful. When this energy center is not flowing, you may struggle with expressing yourself or have sensations of tightness in your throat.
As you meditate on this chakra, you will become more open to expressing the truth that lies within you.
For us souls@work, it is important to notice whether you feel like your workplace encourages open expression. If not, you may be shutting off the energy of this chakra in order to fit in. This can be especially true if you have a crappy job or a horrible boss because you may not feel safe enough to speak up.
But it is likely that there are some parts of your work that are more comfortable. Perhaps you feel more open with certain colleagues, or you can speak up in certain settings, like one-on-one discussions.
Pay attention to where you feel most free to speak your truth. And if you can, create more of that–spend more time with those people or set up that kind of setting.
You can also do things to encourage your expression. I really believe in journaling as a way to strengthen our voice. Read more of my favorite tips on journaling here.
Some people do better by giving themselves a little time to prepare and having notes to guide them. Or perhaps you would benefit from having some training on public speaking or communication skills. There are some great ones on lynda.com (click here for free 10-day trial).
The work of the fifth chakra is to find our voice and to start sharing it with others. The world needs those of us who are conscious to start speaking up. What do you have to say?
Namaste.
