Welcome to 2012! This year promises to be transformative on every level. Our planet is shifting in powerful ways and that is because more of us are willing to claim the life we want. Brave people everywhere are standing up to be heard, demanding to be treated fairly and ethically. And the planet is forcing us to think more holistically about how we impact her and each other.
It is in this spirit that I am launching Soul School. This blog and site is my way of being of service. My intention is to support the growth and development of anyone who wants to transform some aspect of his or her life. This site is holistic, bringing together useful information, tips and strategies for all areas of your life, while drawing on the best from a wide range of practices.
On this first day of 2012, take the time to set your intentions. Intentions are powerful because you are claiming what you want to manifest, and in doing so, the universe can rise up to support you. You can read more about how to write intentions in the Wellness Toolbox area of this site. Be sure you think about all areas:
- How do you want to treat yourself in 2012? What self care best supports you?
- What do want to experience in your career? In what ways can you be of service to others?
- How do you want to feel in your relationships? Is there any healing or forgiveness that needs to occur?
- In what ways do you express your creativity? How can you create time to play?
These are just a few considerations. Every year, I set 10-20 intentions, attending to each area of my life in the Wheel of Wellbeing. Start this year with a clear vision for the life you want to create.
Also think about what you want to let go. This morning,we did a burning bowl ritual at my spiritual center. We each wrote on paper the things we wanted to release — old beliefs, ways of being, anger, limiting thoughts or habits, anything that is not going to serve us. We then burned them, watching the fire transmute the paper into ash. It was beautiful and powerful. I encourage you to do the same — think about what what you need to let go of, and then create a ritual to do so. And there’s still time! The 2nd or 3rd of January is just as good a time as any to claim your vision for your future.
I’ll be blogging at least once per week and also offering in-person workshops and video lessons. I am honored to be part of your support team.
Love, Britt
Dear Britt,
I was so pleased to see your accomplishments, construction of this Soul School information out there for all. Particularly useful and timely for the start of 2012. I was able to quickly forward a link to the The Wheel section on Careers/Callings to someone at the cusp of changing jobs who hasn’t uncovered his “passion” – questioning the one exists.
I read throughly through your journaling segment finding it very helpful for a focused intentional work process.
Can you speak to the process of understanding issues/problems/concerns for transformation using the methods of being out in nature (walks, activities or plain outdoor meditation)? Do you have recommendations how to best utilize the place nature brings to our understandings coming to new soul realities – when one would rather spend the time outdoors in nature than writing?
Again, as I read your web pages I was moved urge others to get in touch with your Soul School resources and workshops. Happy New Year and Thank you,
IE
Thank you Ingrid. I appreciate your comment and question. Nature is one of my biggest inspirations and where I feel closest to Spirit/God and I think that is true for a lot of people, regardless of their religious views, or lack thereof. When I am in nature, my mind naturally quiets and I can hear my soul wisdom or inner knowing more clearly. I also get inspiration — ideas seem to flow and I can’t help but think that being in nature strengthens our connection to the spiritual realm. I simply take my journal with me or write when I get back home. Also,
there is a new field called Eco-psychology that focuses on the healing connection between humans and the environment. There is a cycle in nature where old things are composted to become the fertilizer for new growth. I think you’d enjoy learning more about it.
Look at this beautiful site! Your own personal work and the way you use it to inspire others to heal and grow has always been a special support for your students and friends. I’m thrilled for this next manifestation of your reach, and thrilled for the ever growing community that will receive it. Congratulations and blessings, my friend. Your heart is grand and your love keeps growing.
