“Let us not be content to wait and see what will happen, but give us the determination to make the right things happen.” ~ Horace Mann
This quote reminds us that we have the power to change the world. Every change that has ever happened has been because someone decided to not settle for less. Whether the change can be accomplished quickly or takes decades to be realized, it is the power of human conviction that is the source.
This is true for every one of us on a personal level as well. You have the power to change your circumstances. Even if you are in a situation where you feel that you don’t have any power, you always have the power to leave.
Take a look around your life — what change needs to happen and what can you today to start it? What about in your neighborhood or country? Consider how you can make a contribution to efforts that are already in place or do you need to the person to start the effort?
Don’t fool yourself into thinking “who am I to…?” We don’t have to be leaders, or authorities, or experts to start a movement. Consider how different our world is because Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus. Lots of small, simple acts can move countries.
