Day 1 of the Finding Your Flow meditation is about “finding security.” Deepak’s centering thought is that our security and peace come from within. While it’s easy to think that those things are external and we have to wait for them to come, our true security and peace is sourced from the greater universal and divine energy of which we are all part. The more we can connect to and tap in to that divine energy, the more we realize our security and peace our completely within our control.
I think this concept is very central to the “souls@work” project because we often see our jobs as the source of our financial security. Our paychecks allow us to put a roof over our heads and food on the table and what is more to security than the core needs of survival? We can start to feel very attached to “this” job because we “need” it, and this can lead to fear of loss, especially in a “bad” economy.
And yet, you have many God-given gifts and talents that you bring to the world that other employers would appreciate too. You have the ability to set intentions and manifest opportunities by tapping in to the universal law of attraction. You have the smarts and scrappiness to find creative work opportunities that would bring income even if they didn’t align with your career. And you even have close friends and family whom you could lean on if you hit a rough patch.
These things are not just “Plan B”, they are part of the divine energy that flows through everything, including you. It is always with you and always available to you. Yes, your security and peace come from within.
I find it help to take stock and make a list of all the ways you can not only survive and thrive should your current job go away. This will help release some of the “tightness” that comes from attachment and fear. What’s on your list?
Oh yea, and doing a daily meditation like this one help too. =)
Namaste.
