Day 5 of Finding Your Flow meditation focuses on the expression of our truth and creativity. As a certified coach, I absolutely know that people have the truth within them. That is what coaching is all about—holding the space while the person gets in touch with what they really feel and what they really want. With every client I have ever worked with, 100% of the time, their truth is revealed.
Sometimes there are many layers of “shoulds” that we have to get through but the truth is in there and when the person connects with their truth, the shift is magical. This is certainly true for me too. When I go within and source those quiet whispers that come from my soul and the Divine, I feel powerful alignment that is almost indescribable.
What is interesting for us souls@work is that we can often turn away from those whispers during the 9 to 5 because we are busy being “professional” or because those whispers conflict with a should—namely that “I gotta have a good paying job to make ends meet.”
Or maybe it sounds like, “I can’t challenge the status quo. That would get me fired.”
Or “I can’t take that risk. They might not like it/me.”
You are not alone if you take the “keep my head down and just do my job” approach at work. In fact, Gallup recently estimated that 70% of the workforce feels that way in their report The State of the American Workforce, which studies employee engagement.
But the thing about the Divine is that it is relentless. Those whispers don’t stop just because we don’t want to listen. In fact, they get louder… and louder… and louder.
But there is a cost to not listening to the whispers. What do you to keep them “under control” and what happens in your body when you don’t listen?
For me, I get cranky or bummed (it’s one or the other). I start feeling out of sorts and then I find myself either slumping around in a semi-depressed state or I’m irritated at everyone and everything around me. Fun huh?
This week, just start to notice the whispers again. You don’t have to do anything about them right now. Just start tuning your ear back in to them. What are they saying to you? And when are they the most vocal?
Namaste.
